A serious legal matter has emerged involving West Coast Eagles forward Tyler Brockman, who has been formally charged by police with a count of grievous bodily harm. This development follows an incident that took place in Geraldton back in December.
In a brief announcement made on Friday, the Eagles confirmed that Brockman is scheduled to appear in court in February to address these allegations. According to their statement, "The West Coast Eagles acknowledge that AFL player Tyler Brockman has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm by WA Police related to an incident in Geraldton in December." The club added, "Brockman is expected to make his court appearance at the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 19. Additionally, the club has notified the AFL about the charge and will refrain from further comments since the case is currently under judicial consideration."
Brockman, who was selected as the 40th pick in the 2020 draft, transitioned from Hawthorn to the Eagles at the conclusion of the 2023 season after spending three years with his former team. At just 23 years old, he played 20 games in the 2025 season, a notable increase from his 10 game appearances in 2024.
This latest legal issue arises after Brockman was previously fined $1,400 by the Geraldton Magistrates Court in 2024 for admitting guilt to multiple traffic violations. Earlier that same year, he faced allegations of leaving the scene of a car accident while in Geraldton for a family funeral. In response to the crash, the West Coast Eagles temporarily suspended Brockman and enrolled him in a wellness and education program designed to assist him in navigating personal challenges.
